John's Pass separates Treasure Island from Madeira Beach.  It's our favorite place to paddle and it's a great place to learn the sport.

We start on the protected inlets.  First-timers usually become comfortable after about 10 minutes.  About a mile out, you can hop out and stretch your legs on the sandbar.

John's Pass is full of playful Dolphins.

The locals have even named some of them.  You might run into some Manatees too, while paddling the pass.  There's plenty of Pelicans and Seagulls.

We can't guarantee that you will see Dolphins, but there's a good chance.

We launch at Treasure Bay Resort and Marina and paddle down the canals.  We paddle to Eleanor Island or Little Bird Key, and then relax on the sandbar. *

Whether you paddled out in a kayak or on a SUP, you can take a break, swim, snorkel, and hunt for some conch shells while exploring the sandbar.

*Though rare, there are times when we cannot make it to the islands in the Pass. On those occasions we will use an alternate route.
